The FC/APC fiber optic connector is a device for detachable active connections between optical fibers. The external reinforcement is a metal sleeve, the fastening method is a turnbuckle, and the two plugs are screwed together through an adapter. The 8° angled physical contact (APC) end face pushes reflected light out of the fiber core, giving a return loss of 60 dB or better — which is why this connector is widely used in cable television optical networks.
